History
The Gay flag 2020 was created by a Twitter user in 2020 as a modern redesign of pride symbolism for gay men. The flag emerged during a period of renewed interest in pride vexillology, when the LGBTQ+ community was actively creating and refining flag designs to better represent specific identities. The five-stripe design features dark green and light green stripes representing growth and nature, a white center stripe symbolizing peace and transparency, and hot pink and light pink stripes representing love and passion. The flag rapidly gained adoption on social media and within online LGBTQ+ communities, becoming a recognized symbol among gay men despite the absence of official registry or formal institutional endorsement. Like many contemporary pride flags, its meaning and usage continue to evolve through community dialogue and feedback.
