History
The sapphic pride flag represents women and non-binary individuals attracted to women. The flag's design draws from two previous iterations created on Tumblr: the original version by user lesbeux-moved on August 14, 2015, which featured a distinctive violet flower petal arrangement, and a simplified version by user pride-color-schemes on June 25, 2017. Hannah Moss synthesized these designs on June 6, 2021, creating a modern version that combines the recognizable floral aesthetic of the 2015 flag with the streamlined simplicity of the 2017 iteration. The flag uses shades of violet and pink to represent femininity, love, and sexuality, with white representing clarity and community. This flag has gained recognition within sapphic communities as a symbol distinct from the broader lesbian flag, allowing for more specific identity representation.
